Enjoy DramaBox Dramas Now Cost and Plans

The Best Opening Line in Short Dramas Is “Daddy?”

I have to confess up front: anything that opens with a little child pointing at a stranger and calling him Daddy is going on my watchlist. Short dramas know this about me, as well as about many of us. The secret-baby setup acts as a pressure cooker, because the kid is living proof of a past the grown-ups have been dodging. Bring in a hockey star, a football legend or a single father who never knew he was one, drama box and you will find the drama story all but writes itself. So I made the list I keep sending to friends, arranged as “if you liked this, try that,” plus a family-drama corner for the true tearjerkers. Each pick is a vertical short series whose episodes usually last a minute or two, so they make good short movies for a daily commute if you watch a handful at a time. For each one, I also noted the app and the episode count, so you know the commitment before the first cliffhanger hooks you.

If You Loved Breaking the Ice, Try Love on the Sidelines

People who hear I watch these almost always bring up Breaking the Ice first. It lives on ReelShort, spans about 70 episodes if you count the trailer, and is based on Shutout, a novel by Jami Davenport. The secret Caroline kept from her first love, Easton, was her pregnancy. He has no idea their daughter is his, though eight years later he is a hockey star and also her boss. The 2024 cast is headed by Nicole Mattox and Seth Edeen. Having the secret and the paycheck under the same roof means nobody gets a breather from the tension, and neither do you.

Did that setup have you yelling at your phone? Queue up Love on the Sidelines next. With 64 episodes and Noah Fearnley and Hannah Record in the lead roles, this ReelShort original, also available on DramaBox, is a reel short drama in the most literal sense. Football star Karl loses his sister and his career because of Natalie’s brother, so Natalie disappears for seven years. Karl finds her again only to discover she has a “husband” and a “daughter,” and he refuses to let her go. Suffice it to say, those quotation marks are doing a lot of heavy lifting. Both series swap one sport for another while keeping the same formula: a long absence, a child in the middle, and an athlete who learns the past never stays on the bench.

If You Enjoyed Kidnapped by the Mafia, Try Quiet in the Office!

Kidnapped by the Mafia is GoodShort at its most gloriously over the top, and I mean that as a compliment. The 2025 cast is headed by Rosa Singerman and Franky Cammarata, and the series spans 86 episodes. Violet’s boyfriend hands her over to mafia king Vincenzo as a contract bride, a solid argument for screening your boyfriends. Vincenzo is seriously injured saving her, she marries him out of gratitude, and then assassins strike at the wedding. Contract marriage, love after marriage and a wedding-day ambush come in one tidy package. The oldest trick in romance keeps it watchable: the scariest man in the room turns out to be the one who takes the hit for you.

For a totally different flavor, check out Quiet in the Office! if that “scary man, soft center” dynamic is your weakness. A Korean original from Vigloo, it debuted in February 2026, and it also streams on GoodShort, where it runs 58 episodes. The story is based on a web novel and webtoon, and Yulhee and Lee Jae-bin play the leads. When Kim Na-yul, an overworked editorial designer, finally confronts her abrasive, workaholic boss, Kwon Si-jin, she ends up seeing a side of him nobody at work knows about. Before you start, know that the series carries a 19+ rating, so it is intended for adult viewers. There are no kids and no mafia here, just two exhausted people and one office, which can be exactly what you need after a week of secret babies.

The Family Drama Corner

Back to back is how I would watch these final two, since they belong together. Both are on GoodShort, and both place a child at the center of the story. The direction of the fatherhood question is where they differ. The first asks what happens when a man discovers he might be a dad; the other asks what happens when a dad keeps failing the child he already has. They almost debate with each other if you watch them in a row. Keep a box of tissues handy, because you will need them for this pair.

First, Found My Daddy at the Construction Site

The most irresistible hook on this list belongs to this GoodShort series, which spans 60 episodes. A broke bricklayer named Tristen works for Gisele, a billionaire CEO. Gisele’s young daughter looks at Tristen out of nowhere and calls him “Daddy”. Then comes a matching necklace, suggesting Tristen is the long-lost father after a six-year search. Since GoodShort tags it with secret identity, female CEO and contract marriage, the class gap between a hard hat and a corner office is only the first obstacle. The cute-kid factor is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, and it lifts gorgeously. If you can hear a little voice say “Daddy” without melting, you are stronger than me.

Then Watch Three Strikes, Dad’s Out

Technically, it is not a sports drama, but the title is a baseball joke, so it fits in nicely. Three Strikes, Dad’s Out is a 65-episode GoodShort series led by Noemi VanSlyke and Ryan Vincent, from 2025. Her boss, William, is the reason Karina, an heiress, walks away from her inheritance. He marries her in secret, yet he is still in love with Fiona. Fiona comes back with a son, William ignores his own child, and Karina decides to give him “three more chances”. Toxic love, a cute kid and a slow-burning regret arc make up this one, and watching the strike count rise is weirdly satisfying. Match it with Found My Daddy at the Construction Site and you get two very different answers to the same question about what makes someone a dad.

Quick Guide: Title, App, Episodes and Theme

This is everything above, gathered in one place. The official app pages supply the episode counts. The trailer is counted in the Breaking the Ice total. The count for Quiet in the Office! follows how it appears on GoodShort. Third-party sites often show different counts, so trust the app. Keep this table handy for your next weekend queue.

Breaking the Ice ReelShort Around 70 Hockey star, secret daughter
Love on the Sidelines ReelShort, also DramaBox 64 Football, second chance
Kidnapped by the Mafia GoodShort 86 Contract marriage, mafia style

How to Watch These Dramas Online Without Getting Burned

Before you begin, a little practical advice, because watching dramas online can get expensive faster than you expect. ReelShort’s own blog says the first few episodes of a series are usually free, somewhere between 5 and 15, and one ad can unlock two more. The site says free unlocks happen only in the app, but you can also watch in a web browser at reelshort.com. Weekly passes on both ReelShort and GoodShort auto-renew and, as of September 2026 in the US App Store, run up to about $19.99, while GoodShort’s weekly options begin around $5.99. Prices vary by country, platform and promotion. Uninstalling an app does not cancel the subscription, so end it in your App Store or Google Play settings. Skip the “unlimited coins” mods and copycat streaming sites, please, because they are unofficial and not worth the risk. Stick with the official apps, fetch a snack and let the kids in these shows do the heart-stealing.
